During the peak of the violence in Syria between 2011 and 2013, I presented three collections with unsettling titles (Syrian Scenes, Wailing, and Field Hospitals). I found myself involved in capturing terrified faces and grieving mothers, with a lot of red color. I imagined faces in the streets as if they were about to scream, and I saw grim, motionless faces screaming endlessly.
Dictator Trilogy
On the third anniversary of the uprising, I presented this work titled “Tyrant Trilogy” at the Beirut Art Fair 2014. It was a tragic and ironic visual review of the regime’s achievements during the first three years of oppression endured by the Syrian people, which continues to this day.
