Naskh

Naskh script is one of the most popular styles of Arabic calligraphy, known for its simplicity and readability, making it the most commonly used script for writing books, newspapers, and manuscripts. Naskh originated in the 9th century (3rd century AH) by the calligrapher Ibn Muqla. It is characterized by the uniformity of its letters and spacing, making it ideal for longer texts. The letters in Naskh are round and well-proportioned, with strict adherence to rules regarding the dimensions and connections of the letters, giving it a consistent and beautiful appearance.

The script is named “Naskh” because it was widely used for copying (or “naskh” in Arabic) books due to its legibility and clarity. Naskh script is also commonly used in printed Qur’ans, enhancing its artistic and practical value.
